Setting up a skewer: check + capture
In previous lessons we have seen how to locate a an enemy piece unfavorably by giving check or by capturing. In this lesson we will see these two forcing moves in combined one move. After exchanging with check, a skewer then wins material. Let's have a look at the example.
What do you have to do?
Exchange a piece with check, placing two enemy pieces on the same line. Then win material with a skewer.
With 1.Txf5+! white captures a rook with check and thus ensures that a piece lands on square f5. After 1...Kxf5 The king is then a nice attacking target for the bishop. With 2.Be4+ white wins the knight with a skewer: 2...Ke5 3.Bxh7.
